Phase 04/Wk 17: Deliver

Ask appointment, Write time and Peer-to-peer with Beccy Burgin

After last week's meltdown over all things ‘Critical Report’, I have readdressed the structure of my essay, researched more reliable white papers instead of relying on website data and put a positive plan in place. I’m not embracing the academic side of the master's, having not written a submission for 25+ years, but I have been overwhelmed by the amount of support the University offers.

In the last module, the ASK Academic Skills advisers provided great strategies for guidance on structure, drafting, and referencing, so I’ve booked a 1:1 appointment with Gareth Price for this Friday. Hopefully, by then, I will have revisited the white papers I initially referred to and also structured some stronger sustainable arguments, which I feel encompass the political issue of mistrust in our authorities with greenwashing of available environmental data.

In the past, I have found feedback from my peers crucial to giving me structure and focus, so I was delighted when Bex said she was available to give me a quick critique of my report. She was incredibly kind, as I knew my report was rushed, weak, and needed to be rewritten. We discussed all the pain points in my project. One sticking point, is the James Clear book Atomic Habits, my original ‘point of interest’. Possibly more of a practical guide than an academic piece, but it was instrumental in my framework for the jubilee drinking water fountain to connecting with the community.
