Week 9: Concept Development

Your research task this week is to seek to gain a fresh insight about the project you are developing.

You might choose to reflect on the feedback and comments made by staff and your peers or your engagement with your target audience.

Week 9: Sketching up concepts to check the concept works

I decided to sketch up a basic wireframe before delving into the digital realm of prototyping with Figma. By doing this I was hoping to visualise the structure of a design, creating a basic layout, content hierarchy, and user flow, to focus on essential elements without getting bogged down by aesthetic details.

Mapping it out and testing it - This really helped. Elements that I thought were obvious to me, were not obvious to my chosen demographic. For instance, I thought having an introduction to the game by Tim Peake was an exciting addition, but when I asked my demographic if they knew who he was, some said they didn’t know! Tim Peake last flew to the ISS in 2015 (8 years ago) so I guess the younger age of my demographic was only 10 years old so this is possible.

x3 guess to discover the object. What happens if you don’t ? What happens if you hit a space rock - does this mean you have lost your ‘go’ for the day?

How to discover the item on my app - Currently in the Science Museum Archives online collection, you can filter by image, category, collection, Display, and object type. I needed to find another way to display mine in order of size, Alphabetical order, date discovered and popularity.

I must remember that the aim of the game apart from being a daily challenge is to ‘Discover something new’. So it must be an obvious link back to the Science Museum Space Collection (Open pop up window?) Also, is it on display somewhere where they can visit it for real?
